Al-Hajj
(cont')
4
[The pillars of religion
are
completed by Al-Hajj
to the House
of Allah in the Holy country]
(qasida
39:1)
In a completion to our topic about Al-Hajj
in the previous editions, we say with the help of our Allah
Almighty:
In a
completion to our study for this unique verse in our magazine that publishs Islamic awareness of our
true religion to
our youth and nation, we say that we
all know that as our bodies needs
the physical well known food, also our hearts and souls need special food.
This food is Dhikr of
Allah and learning the supreme divine meanings of the Qur'an,
as these are the
light and food for
the souls
and
hearts, which can not
live without it. In
this context Allah, The Wise The
All-Knowing, said:
[Can
he who was dead, to whom We gave life, and a light whereby he can
walk amongst men, be like him who is in the depths of darkness, from
which he can never come out?]
Al-An'am
6:122. So Allah Almighty told us not to take
the knowledge of our religion from a dead
self
out of heedlessness for Dhikr
and ignorance of the
true knowledge of our religion. So
Allah
said: [And
do not obey him whose heart We have made oblivious to Our
Dhikr and who follows his own whim and
whose conduct
became excessively loose]
al-Kahf
18:28.
Allah
did
not say oblivious tongue,
rather He
said oblivious
heart. Then this
oblivious man followed
the meanings that match with his ego and does
not follow the divine real contexts
from the path of the
true scholars. This
man's conduct became
excessively loose,
so how can he unite others or even straighten
their conduct?!!
Allah
then said
[Forbidden to you are the dead
An'am]
al-Ma'ida
5:3.
The Quran has endless meanings and can address
any knowledgeable man of any rank.
[and
above every man of knowledge is one who knows better until it ends
with the All-Knowledgeable,
exalted be He]
Yusuf
12:76. Those who care only about
growing their bodies,
interpret this
[the
dead
An'am]
al-Ma'da 5:3,
verse as
the dead animals.
They can not understand
any other meaning.
On the other hand, those who have strong
wills and strive for Dhikr,
understand it as animals
because of the
purification of the body [Eat
of
the good food that we have provided you with]
al-Baqarah
2:57, 172,
al-A'raf 7:160,
Taha 20:81.
But then they also,
understand
another meaning which is: "[the
dead
An'am]
al-Ma'da 5:3, is those who have
oblivious
hearts,
souls and selves, so
they are like animals,
because they care only about eating
and drinking.
Allah forbids us to feed our hearts from these
oblivious ones, because they only
have
darkness,
while what we need is
the divine lights of Allah Almighty.
Allah added to the dead An'am,
[the
blood]
al-Ma'da 5:3.
Before
the time of Islam, people used to pour
the blood in the animal intestines then grill it, others
used to drank it.
But Allah prohibited
us
from
that, for the safety
of our bodies, because if the blood doesn't come out
of the slaughtered animal, it will be
trapped in its veins, becomes moldy,
and do us
much harm. That was stated by
al-Neiasbory, al-Khazen, and
others.
The blood is
the liquid that carries
the oxygen and nutrients.
It also carries the
residues
from the assimilation; toxic
acids, such as the urine acid,
toxic wastes, and carbon dioxide.
So the blood is
the best place for the germs
and microorganisms in the body.
Now if Allah
prohibits us to feed our bodies with
the blood, how does
that go for the food of the hearts and souls?
The great Imam Ibn Arabi said, in his
Sufi Interpretation, that the blood
here is
referring to the ego and whim.
As the blood is the carrying power for
life in man and animal, the ego is
considered the carrying power for the life of the self that Allah orders us to
fight and
kill,
which is called the great
Jihad. So,
in his interpretion
for [the strangled]
al-Ma'da 5:3,
he said that
deeds
of the self gets
better by
suppressing
it,
restraining it,
and driving
the egos
away
from it, which is the source of
it's strength and life.
As the strangled is the one that
had its blood
trapped inside,
and because the blood refers to
the ego, so if a man does not get rid of
his ego, we should not
get any religious knowledge from him.
This man of ego will depends on his
own opinion, neglecting the contexts. If the religious
instructions were to be taken according to
mind thinking, we would
wipe the bottom of the slipper not the top, in
the
Tayammum
[the alternative of
the ablution when there is no water].
Ibn Arabi
added saying that if the self ego is to be mixed with deeds,
it
will be all corrupted.
Allah,
the Blessed Almighty, says
[Oh, you
who
believe, don't violate Allah's rituals]
al-Ma'da 5:2.
Al-Imam Al-Nakhagwany
in his interpretation of Qur'an, in his book
The Divine
Disclosures and the Keys of
Mystical, said
about this verse: Do not
permit
yourselves to violate the
rituals of Allah, i.e.
the things He forbade at the time of Hajj,
so as to glorify His commands and His
house. We
mentioned before that Hajj of souls and hearts has no
specified
time, rather it is done all times and
all places.
The House here is
the heart of the scholar of Allah whom we should cruise
around, get from his lights, and
to acquire his manners.
Of course, this is not
a denial that al-Ka'ba is
Allah's house
also, but It is
the House that
we cruise around with
our bodies. So
if we admit the divine worldly House of Allah, al-Ka'ba, we should
also admit the heart House of Allah which
is also divine and truth.
Allah, the
Exaulted, continued:
[Nor the sacred month]
al-Ma'da 5:2. It means :
the things
Allah
forbade at the time of Hajj.
But for the Hajj of the souls and hearts,
which is the great Jihad,
all times are considered the sacred month
of Hajj for those who begin
their Jihad and
confine, restrain, and suppress theirselves from
doing anything that is
forbidden.
Imam Ibn
Arabi [AAH] says
that
[Nor the sacred month]
al-Ma'da 5:2,
means the time of
commencing the real Hajj,
the time for manners and attainment. Then
Allah added, without
slackening, [Nor the
sacrifice offered]
al-Ma'da 5:2,
Imam Ibn Arabi
interpreted: Nor
the ready prepared self that is to be
offered as a sacrifice at the arrival
to the yard of Hadra. end of Ibn Arabi's words.
We
talked about reaching the Ka'ba of
truth. This means that:
as we are asked not to
trespass the offered sacrifice animals that is
offered to Allah until it reaches the place of offering to be
slaughtered, the same way are asked not to
trespass, harm, or
hinder whoever offers
himself, of the true advancing believers,
to be sacrificed
in the true sacred house of
Allah, Those who seek the path of Allah by
slaughtering the egos of theirselves at His
great holy House,
which
is the heart of the scholar who
comes to the
world every 100 year to revive the
knowledge of this
nation's religion, as the Prophet [PPBUH]
said.
Then Allah
said:
[Nor the dedicated animals marked by collars]
al-Ma'da 5:2,
the worldly meaning of this is: any animal
that is marked by a
collar around its neck, that indicates its
being a sacrificed
offering to Allah Almighty.
also whoever is
marked with a sign that he is advancing on the right
way to Allah to be an offering, like the ones
with the signs; e.g. those people of the Sufi paths who are
advancing in the way of Allah or those people of Shari'a known by
their makes or uniforms. We should not trespass, objected or stand against
these marked people.
Then Allah
combined all of them and said [nor
those heading to the Sacred House] al-Ma'da 5:2,
whether
they follow the Shari'a or the
divine truth, we must not
trespass, object
or hinder their walk on the path of Allah to the Sacred House,
whether they are
going to Ka’aba or in a path to Allah with
a sheikh.
All these meanings call muslems to be
in harmony,
cordiality, and safety and to spread the virtue
and brotherhood among them as a thanking for the blessings of Allah
to them. [remember with gratitude Allah's
grace
that He bestowed upon
you; for you
were enemies and He
brought your hearts together
in love, so that by His
Grace, you became
brothers]
Al
Imran 3:103.
Eating [the
flesh of swine]
al-Ma'da 5:3,
is prohibited because the swine is fed on vicious
wastes and it is also very greedy and
gluttony. So
whoever has the same qualities, we
do not take any of our religion
opinions from him.
[The
fallen]
al-Ma'da 5:3,
animal
died out of falling from heights, refers to the one who
fell
from high divine knowledge
and
refused it for the
low worldly
knowledge.
We should not take any religious
advice from
him.
We
have wandered among the interpretations of
the different scholars about
one verse, because [how
often
do Allah‘s people get
gifts of divine meanings from Him; the Great
Giver]. Allah wanted His people, the one
with the the great signs and meanings, to be indispensible for us,
so he gave each one of them special gifted
meaning different from the others.
Allah provides whom He pleases without reckoning.
After we
understand the signs and divine meaning in Surat
al-Ma’ida, we
come to the end of our topic the real
Hajj. Someone might
ask: why do we detail
the different types of death and its
causes in these verses?
The reason
is to
be able to recognize those
people who are alive among us, but
actually they are dead, so
as not to take,
from them,
our intrinsic divine
knowledge. We should take these gifts
given to us by Allah, in His divine book, only from the
righteous
people, whose souls are purified and
who are close to Allah,
who are the ones meant to be asked. [and if
My devout
servants ask you about Me, sure I am
close and I answer
the call of the caller
who calls me]
al-Bakrah
2:186. Those
are the ones belonging to Me [My
devout servants],
the ones who are close to Me [sure I am
close],
the ones who are answered when call [I answer
the
call of the caller]
of them. They are who knew the true meaning of Hajj and told us
about it. The other Hajj, the one we do with our bodies, is good
only if associated with the true one, otherwise this kind of Hajj
may not give the desired effects.
After that
Allah says: [Today
the disbelievers have despaired of your religion]
al-Ma’ida
5:3.
It means that if you knew
My signs and who you should take your religion from,
then the disbelievers:
ego, worldly life,
satan and selves,
will despair of
your religion. If
you get this far, then
your religion will be completed,
[Today
I have perfected your religion for you, and I have completed My
favour upon you, and I have
chosen
Islam for you as religion]
al-Ma’ida
5:3,
Islam here means
submission, and I approved your submission for you. That verse
was revealed down in
the farewell Hajj.
May Allah
grant us this great Hajj and make us
steadfast with our great sheikhs.
