sayydi Sultan Aboel-Elaa [AAH]

The scented gifts are still coming incessantly, and here is the memory of the knowledgeable saint of Allah sayydi Aboel-Elaa [AAH]. Many scholars has written biographies for him. From the book of "the biography of the family of the Prophet [PPBUH]":

One from the purified offspring is the famous Sultan Aboel-Elaa known as al-Husaini ascribing to the noble al-Husain people. His shrine is in his famous Masjid known by his name in area of Bolaq Aboel-Elaa in Cairo, Egypt. Imam Abdel-Wahab Sha'rany and al-Shiblingy in "the light of sights" said about him that:

He passed away in the year eight hundred, ninety something. He was one of the people with miraculous acts. It was said that he stayed, for forty years, in seclusion with no contact with people, devoted to worshiping Allah. That is the status of the saints; power, firmness, and will in performing the actions. The people of Egypt pay him plenty of visits. On his door two verses are written:

[Stand by the door in submissiveness     with true assumption and resort]

[It is a tried out door                                              for fulfilling the needs]

Sheikh Soliman Abdel-Rahman Aboel-Yusr, the Imam of his Masjid, has put a biography about him. We thought it would be good to pass it on to you:

He is the knowledgeable saint of Allah, descendent of Ahl-al-Bait [the family of the Prophet [PPBUH]], al-Husain Abo-Ali, ibn al-Hasan al-Akbar called al-Anwar, ibn Saied Ali al-Badry, ibn Saied Ibrahi, ibn Saied Mohamed ibn Abi-Bakr, ibn Saied Ismail, ibn Saied Omar, ibn Saied Musa al-Ash-hab, ibn Saied Yahya, ibn Saied Eisa, ibn Saied Mohamed al-Taqy, ibn Saied Hasan al-Askary, ibn Saied Ali al-Hady, ibn Imam Mohamed al-Gawad, ibn Imam Ali ar-Rida, ibn Imam Musa al-Kazim, ibn Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq, ibn Imam Mohamed al-Baqir, ibn Imam Ali Zain al-Abidin, ibn sayyduna Mawlana Imam al-Husain, ibn sayyduna Mawlana Imam Ali [AAHF] from sayyda Fatima az-Zahra', the daughter of the Chosen Prophet [PPBUH].

He was born in the glorified Maccah in the late eighth century of Hijra. He left Maccah to Cairo and stayed, in the neighborhood of Bolaq, in seclusion  in the place of his current Masjid. He passed away in the year 890H , after a hundred and twenty years of life which he spent in the obedience and worship of his Lord, forty years of which was spent in the same place of his Masjid in seclusion.

He isolated himself from people to be devoted for worshiping his Lord until he was granted the rank of the saints. Thus he was raised to a high rank and was given an honest tongue in the earliest and latest people. When he passed away, he was buried in his Masjid. He was one of the ascetic worshiping hermits who reach high saint class. Allah gifted him with a lot of miraculous acts, [that is the Grace of Allah, which He bestows on whom he pleases: and Allah is the Lord of mighty grace] al-Hadid 57:21. His Masjid is wide for aiming visitors and a light stand for the seekers, which is aimed for by praying people and visitors from all around the country. It is also famous in the Islamic world. His Mawlid is normally in Rabie' ath-Thani of each year [AAH] and please him and us with him.

A summary of what is written in his Maqam:

At first, the Masjid was a small Zawya then the vigilant concern and care of one of his followers, who was a wealthy trader, that was given the subsistence from Allah after he was poor. This man was called Noureddin Ali ibn al-Finysh al-Brollousy. The man tore down the Zawya and built up a Masjid in its place, wide enough for the praying people and visitors of  Sultan Aboel-Elaa. This Masjid was one of the most elegant and stylist buildings which had a beautiful taste and fine artistic work of ornaments and engravings in its dome and minaret. Its now hundreds of years since they was made, and still in the best conditions.

The Masjid stayed on the same condition. A shrine was made, under the dome, for sayydi Sultan Aboel-Elaa [AAH] after he passed away. Its cockpit was made from the aloes wood and decorated with silk curtains that was regularly renewed by the governors and the wealthy people of Egypt, as they all believed in him because of his miraculous acts.

As it is the case with all people of goodness, he had fighters and enemies proud and stubborn. This does not take of his rank, rather it gave him favor for his Lord Creator. He was antagonized with sayings and with actions. It was said about him that he was working with chemistry in his solitude, in which he stayed for forty years. They also excited the little boys to throw stones at him. He was patient and endured all their ill deeds until Allah showed them his honor in the form of many miraculous acts that he did. Then people believed in his saint state and came apologizing to him and asked for his blessings.

We ask Allah, the Most Generous, to give us the benefits of his saints and resurrect us with His Beloveds. We ask him for that by the Prophet [], the purified Ahl-al-Bait, and the lighting lamps of his companions.

Mawlana Sheikh congratulates all brothers and sisters all over the world

for the Hawliya of the two Imams [AAT]

From the 27th of March to the 7th of April 2011.

May Allah give us the blessings and goodness of this occasion for now and always.

Hearts enclose me know love as a path

The first half of verse no. 126 of the first qasida is the motto of the Hawliya 2011. It is by Imam Fakhreddin sheikh Mohamed Osman Abedo al-Burhany [AAH], and he is giving us the good tidings of the rectifications ISA. As the motto of Hawliya always have a meaning that is suitable and meant for the Hawliya, and we pray to Allah that He gives all our brothers and sisters as well as the whole Islamic nation, a share of the meaning of this year's motto and guides us to the path of love. As love is the beginning of creation; Allah said in the famous holly Hadith [I was a hidden treasure. Then I loved to be known. So I created the creature …]. It is in many interpretation books, In another narration He said [I wanted to be known], and wanting is also loving. This was related to the Qur'anic verse [I only created the jinn and mankind so that they worship Me] az-Zaryat 51:56, which was interpretated as (so that they worship Me; means: so that they know Me).

Allah also says in Qur'an [Say: "If you do love Allah, Follow me: Allah will love you and forgive you your sins: For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful] Al-Emran 3:31. Ibn Agiyba [AAH] said: When this verse was revealed down, Abdullah ibn Obayy said to his fellows: Mohammad is, surly, making his obedience like the obedience of Allah, and he is ordering us to love him like the Christians love Essa [Jesus]. Then Allah's verse was revealed; [Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger] … the verse an-Nour 24:54. The Prophet [PPBUH] then said (He who obeys me, has obeyed Allah, and he who obeys the Imam, obeys me. Whoever disobeys me, disobeys Allah, and whoever disobeys the Imam, disobeys me). Agreed upon, from Abo-Hurayra, in some versions (prince) instead of (Imam).

Following the Messenger [PPBUH] is not attainable unless through loving him [PPBUH] and also his successor and guiding Imam after him. A real lover will always seek to please his beloved, and the please of Imam Fakhreddin, as in his qasida:

[O, my seeker my pleasure is your Dhikr of Allah] 3/5

As our Sufi sheikhs say: Loving is obeying. Allah says in Qur'an [Say: "Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger: but if you turn away, he is only responsible for the duty placed on him and you for that placed on you. If you obey him, you shall be on right guidance. The Messenger's duty is only to preach clearly] an-Nour 24:54.

Now think about the words of Allah [If you obey him, you shall be on right guidance], that is why Imam Fakhreddin said to us in his guarantied methodology:

[Obeying Ibrahim, If you want to be on the right guidance

It is the perfection of my gifting, more over, the success of the intentions] 14/24

Verse 24 in a sign to the Sura 24 of Qur'an; an-Nour. This verse is the 24th of qasida 14 of his divan; Sharab al-Wasl. So obeying Imam is from the obedience of the Messenger, and obeying the Messenger is from the obedience of Allah, Almighty. Religion as a whole is of loving Allah. Abo-Hurayra [AAH] narrated that the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH] said (Allah, Almighty, said "Whoever become enemy of a saint of Mine, I declare him war. And no slave of Mine ever draws closer to Me with anything better than the duties I bestowed on him. A slave of Mine keeps drawing closer to Me by doing supererogatory until I love him. When I love him I become his hearing that he hears with, his sight that he sees with, his hand that he strikes with, and his legs that he walks with. And if he asks Me I will give him and if seeks refuge with Me I will give him refuge"). al-Bukhary. So the ranking and classes in religion are in fact classes in the divine love.

The way for both guidance and love is through obedience and following. Also, if it was not for the love there would be no following nor obedience. Think of the Hadith (until I love him), you would see that the goal of "drawing closer" is the love of Allah. The Qur'anic verse says [O you who believe! if any from among you turn back from his Faith, soon will Allah produce a people whom He will love as they will love Him,- humble toward the believers, mighty against the unbelievers, striving in the way of Allah, and never afraid of the blame of any blamer. That is the grace of Allah, which He will bestow on whom He pleases. And Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knowing] al-Ma'da 5:54, and these are their attributes: they love Him, they are humble to the believers, mighty against the unbelievers, striving in the way of Allah, and never afraid of the blame of any blamer.

About love says Imam Fakhreddin:

[You seekers, Love is not easy       you have been righty guided, so straighten up] 7/12

the verse is 9 words and it is no. 7. Verse no. 7 in al-Fateha Sura with its is 9 words [The path of those on whom You have bestowed Your Grace, and not those who earned Your wrath nor those who have gone astray] al-Fateha 1:7.  This path, which is the path of love, we ask for it in each kneel of each prayer weather its duty or supererogatory. So we say [Guide us to the straight path] al-Fateha 1:6. So our path is our sheikh and his guarantied methodology, where he says in his divan and methodology:

[I am the path of the Chosen and his intimate talker

my enviers have separated each to a different party] 1/277

See how Allah said [The path of those on whom You have bestowed Your Grace, and not those who earned Your wrath nor those who have gone astray], so the path has been related to those on whom Allah has bestowed His Grace. Allah did not say the path of Allah neither He called it the way. As the way might be easy or hard but the path ["Serat" in Arabic] is taken from an Arabic word that means swallow. So it is as if we are asking Allah the path that will swallow us, so as to never go back and to reach up to Allah the shorted way which is the straight way. This is the path of love and this is what you read from the verse [whom He will love as they will love Him].

He also says [AAH] about love:

[Knowledge covers the slave in the most beautiful dress

and love cures all kinds of illness] 15/25

And also:

[They fed on fondness and passion was the drink

they had comfort in love when they got thirsty or hungry] 23/2

And also:

[Truly the ailment of love for the adorer one is an illness

but it cures all incurable ailments] 1/136

As walking and taking the path to Allah is with love and through love. Allah said [Should they intend to deceive you, verily Allah suffices you: He is That has strengthened you with His support and with the Believers ¤ And He has put affection between their hearts: not if you has spent all that is in the earth, could you have produced that affection, but Allah has put affection between them: for He is Exalted in might, All-Wise] al –Anfal 8:62-63. To put affection between the hearts is Loving that is caused by the Dhikr of name "Allah" ["Allah" has put affection between them] i.e. the name "Allah". So the reason of this affection is the Dhikr of the name "Allah", then Allah will produce the affection between the hearts of the believers. Then they become brothers, as Allah said [The believers are but brethren] al-Hujorat 49:10. Then would it be logical to hate your brother? No, rather not one of us would be a believer unless he loves for his brother what he loves for himself. That is what we learnt from our Beloved Messenger.

So what is the path for have the sheikh [AAH] in our hearts? Imam Fakhreddin says:

[Whoever prepared his heart then I would inhabit it

If I reside into a house, then the house becomes inhabited] 69/7

The preparation of the heart or the house is by cleaning it with Dhikr, asking forgiveness, and prayers to the Prophet [PPBUH]. Then when the sheikh resides in the heart, the heart becomes inhabited with the divine names and attributes which the sheikh is colored with. Then the manners of the seeker would be just as Allah wants it to be, and why not? Has not he have the sheikh in his heart, and the sheikh has the Beloved Chosen One [PPBUH] in his heart. Allah said about him [Color from Allah and who is better than Allah in coloring, and we are His worshippers] al-Baqara 2:138.

May Allah color us with the light of His Greatest Great Name, and make our manner be the manners of the Beloved Chosen [PPBUH].

Sayydi Ibrahim ad-Desouqi [AAH]

He is Master Ibrahim ad-Desouqi ibn Abdel-Aziz al-Mokanna Abi-al-Majd ibn Quraysh .. a descendant of Mawlana Imam al-Husain [AAT]

He was born in the city of Desouq, Egypt, on the last night of Sha’ban, of the year 633H. This night is usually called the night of doubt because people often do not see the moon and would be doubtful as for easting the next day or if it is going to be the first day of Ramadan. But that year the judge, who happened to be a knowledgeable scholar, told them to go see the state of newly born Ibrahim. He told them that if he refused to be fed, then it is Ramadan and they should fast. They to see Ibrahim and his mother told them the he refused her milk starting at dawn, so they knew it is Ramadan. That was the first miraculous act that Allah proved for him.

He learned Fiqh according to ash-Shafi’y doctrine, and was famous among his lovers as Abo-al-Aynayn and Burhan ad-Din.

He [AAH] is one of the four Imams to whom Allah disclosed the unknown, gave them miraculous acts, great knowledge, conclusive disposal, white hand in the rules of saints, and firmly established foot in the final ranks. So he was a speaker all language.

He [AAH] said in his life: “My way [Tariqa] will spread all over after I am gone”. His words actually came true, as his Tariqa [al-Burhaniya ad-Desouqiya ash-Shadhuliya] did spread after his passing away, on the hands of Imam Fakhreddin Mohamed Osman Abdu al-Burhany [AAH], his son Imam Ibrahim, and grand son Sheikh Mohamed.

One story about him [AAH] is that one of his seekers went to Alexandria for some market for his sheikh. /but he had a quarrel with someone from the market. The market man complained to the town judge. That judge used to had the saints, so when he knew that he is a seeker of sayydi Ibrahim, he ordered him to be beaten and imprisoned. The judge also hurt the seeker with words and acts. The seeker sent to sayydi Ibrahim for help. Sayydi Ibrahim wrote some words on a piece of paper and sent it to the judge. The following was written on the paper:

[The arrows of the night do not miss     if it is thrown with the bows of submissiveness]

[It is aimed to its goal by men          who stand long for prayer kneeling and prostration]

[By tongues mumbling with prayers                               by eyelids that has running tears]

[If they pull the string and throw the arrow                        then no shield will be helpful]

When the judge received this paper, he gathered his friends and started mocking the man carrying the message. Then he reached to the point when he insulted sayydi Ibrahim. Then he started reading the paper to his friends. When he reached to the saying of the sheikh [If they pull the string and throw the arrow], an arrow came out of the paper and went into his chest and out of his back, and he fell dead.

Imam Fakhreddin said about him in a big poem in which he tried to say something about how great he is and how we still after more than 700 years do not know almost anything about him:

[O, you who was born a completed           sheikh that can not be promoted]

He died [AAH] on the year 676H of 43 years old, some said he lived 63 years. However he was buried in his famous Masjid in the city of Desouq.

Sayydi Ahmed al-Badawi [AAH]

He [AAT] is Ahmed ibn Ali ibn Ibrahim ... with a tree that starts at sayydi Mawlana Imam al-Husain [AAT]. He is known as the father of the youth [Abi-al-Fetyan], the honorable, the Alawian, asayyd Ahmed, who was know as al-Badawi because he used to veil most of his face.

He [AAT] was born on 596H, in the city of Fas in Morocco. When he was seven years old, hisfather heard a voice in his sleep saying "Oh, Ali, move to honorable Mecca! We have some matters in that". So they traveled to Mecca for four years.

He [AAT] lived in Mecca and was famous for his courage and was called al-Attab. His brother tought him Qur'an when he was eleven years old. Then his status changed and he left the company of people. He became silent, and talked only with signs. He used to fast a lot. He even used to fast for forty days in a row without any food or drink. He used to look up to the sky much.

Then he was told in his sleep "Go to Tanta". So he left Mecca and went to Iraq, visited the shrines of the saints of Allah there, then in the the year 637H, in the month of Rabi' al-Awal, assayyd a-Badawi traveled to Tanta. He stayed in the house of a sheikh of the sheikhs of this city called Ab-Shokhayt. But he went ot roof of his room kept looking to the sky for long times. that is why he was called as-Setouhy [the roof man].

Many children loved him, two of them, Abdel-Aal and Abdel-Magid, followed him and became two of his greatest Morids [seekers] afterwords.

From his followers of the sheikhs, the judge of the judges, Taqei-addin ibn Daqiq al-Eid, although ibn Daqiq al-Eid used to deny the status of sayydi al-Badawi. Once ibn Daqiq al-Eid sent to sayydi Abdel-Aziz ad-Dereini [AAH] and said to him "Examine this Badwian for me, in these cases. As many people became concerned with him. If he answered you about it, then he is a saint of Allah, Almighty".  Sayydi Abdel-Aziz ad-Dereini went to him and asked him about those cases, so sayydi Ahmed al-Badawi answered him with the best of answers, not only that, but he also told him where to find these answers in the books and pages. After that sayydi Abdel-Aziz ad-Dereini used to say about assayyd al-Badawi "He is a sea which bottom is unreachable".

Some of his famous poetry [AAH]:

[I am the veiled (Molatham). Ask about me and about my high spirits

my will shall tell you about what I said with my own mouth]

[I was a small child when I got a high rank

and my spirits was raised from very old times]

[I am as-Setohi, and my name is Ahmed al-Badawi

the greatest of the men and the Imam of people in al-Haram (Ka'ba)]

[Rejoice my seeker, and never be afraid

and hang out with my Dhikr in between the Ban and the flag]

[If my seeker calls on me while he is in the waves

of the seas, he will survive the power of the annihilation]

He [AAH] also said:

[Crazy people, but the secret of their craziness

is very high, on its door step the mind will prostrate]

He passed away [AAH] on 675H, i.e. he lived for 79 years. He was buried in his great Masjid in Tanta, which gets visitors from all overvist sayydi Ahmed and get blessings from his honorable shrine. He [AAH] made sayydi Abdel-Aal as his successor on his Tariqa.

Sayyda Nafisa [AAH]

[O Nafisa, the Generous, look after me

By your grandfather, take me under your eyes]

[I am the poor one, O give me my lady

far be it from you to keep me from your courtyards]

[or from the generosity that covered all people]

In one of the best centuries, which is the second century of Hijra, the year 145H, there came the gifts and the blessings of the house of the prophecy, where the descendant of the people of this noble house, syyda Nafisa, was born. She is syyda Nafisa bent syydi Zaid al-Ablag ibn Imam al-Hasan ibn Imam Ali ibn Abi-Talib [AAT] all. Her birth was in Maccah in the year 145H. She was one the ascetic worshipers; fasting all day and praying all night. She never left the Masjid of the Prophet [PPBUH]. She went to Hajj 30 times, most of them on foot. She used to cry hard and grip the curtains of the Ka’ba and say: “O my God, Master, and Lord, give me the pleasure of Your acceptance, as I caused no reason to keep You from me.” Zainab bent Yahia al-Motawwag, who is the brother of syyda Nafisa [AAT], said: “I served my aunt, syyda Nafisa [AAH], for forty years and I have never seen her asleep at night or breaking her fasting during the day. So I told her once: Why do not you take it easy with yourself?” Syyda Nafisa [AAT] said: “How do I take it easy, when I have obstacles that cannot be overcome except for the winners.”

When the people of Egypt heard that sayyda Nafisa [AAH] was coming to Egypt, and she was well known for them, the men and women came out to meet her on the camels with the howdah on the borders at the city of al-Arish. They escorted her until she came to the old Cairo [al-Fostat] where she stayed at the house of the chief of the traders, whose name was Gamal ed-Din Abdullah ibn al-Gassas. He was a righteous and pious man. She stayed this house for several months, while people came to visit her from all over Egypt to get blessings from her visit.

The name Nafisa, in Arabic, means precious. Sayyda Nafisa, was known as the one with the precious knowledge, because of what she had of firm feet in the field of knowledge. This is not strange for her as she is the granddaughter of the Prophet [PPBUH], who is the first teacher. When Imam ash-Shafe'y came to Egypt, he used to visit her regularly, and he used to lead her in the Ramadan prayer, at-Tarawih, in her Masjid. He used to come to her to ask her to pray for him. He used to listen to her narration of Hadith. When he got sick he used to send her one of his companions, like ar-Rabie al-Geyzi or ar-Rabie al-Moradi. His messenger would salute her and say: "your cousin, ash-Shafe'y, is sick and he is asking you to pray for him." She used to pray for him, and the messenger would go back to ash-Shafe'y to find out that he got well. When He got sick the sickness that he died from, he sent for her prayer as he used to, but she said to the messenger: "May Allah bless him with the grace of seeing His face." When the messenger got back to ash-Shafe'y and told him what she said, ash-Shafe'y knew that he is going to die, so he requested that she do the memorial prayer for him. When he died they passed by her house while taking him to his grave, so that she [AAH] would pray for him. The prince of Egypt was the one who ordered them to pass by her house, because she asked him to fulfill the will of ash-Shafe'y [AAH], as she was too weak to go out for his funeral because of her continuous worshiping. Someone of the righteous people, who attended the funeral of ash-Shafe’y, said that he heard, after the prayers was over, that Allah, Almighty, has forgiven all those who attended the funeral prayers of ash-Shafe’y because of ash-Shafe’y, and has forgiven ash-Shafe’y because of the prayers of sayyda Nafisa. May Allah accepts them both and gives us the benefits of their blessings.

Sayyda Nafisa [AAH] has a lot of miraculous acts, favors, and merits. We will give you some of those in the following paragraphs:

·      It was narrated that a Jewish man lived next door to her who had a crippled young daughter who could not standup. One day her Jewish mother told her that she was going to the market bath. The mother wanted to carry the crippled daughter along with her. The daughter said: I cannot go with you. The Mother said: So would you stay alone at home, until we come back. The daughter said: No, mother, but you can leave me with that noble woman next door, until you come back. The mother went to sayyda Nafisa [AAH] and got her permission, so she took her daughter to sayyda Nafisa [AAH]’s house and left her at a corner there and went to the market. When the time came for the prayer of Dhuhr, sayyda Nafisa [AAH] brought some water and did ablution. Some water from sayyda Nafisa [AAH]’s ablution ran beside that crippled young girl, so she took it and rub it down against her limbs. Allah blessed her and she came out of her paralysis, and when her parents came back, they found her walking out for them and told them what happened, so they converted to Islam.

·    There was this old lady who had four daughters whom she fed from their work in spinning. They used to spin their linen from one Friday to the other, then she would take their spin to sell it in the market. Thus she would buy with half its price food for the whole week, and buy linen with the other half. Once she took the spin and wrap it in a red piece of cloth and went to the market. In her way and while she carried the spin over her head, a big bird dived down and took the spin and flew away. The woman fainted. When she woke up she cried and said: What would I do with my orphans who are so hungry? People gathered around her and asked her about her story. When she told them, they told her about sayyda Nafisa [AAH] and said to her: Go to sayyda Nafisa [AAH] and ask her to pray for you, and Allah will help you ISA. The woman went to sayyda Nafisa [AAH], told her the story of what happened and asked for her prayer. Sayyda Nafisa [AAH] had pity on her and said: "O You, who are Exalted so became Able and owned so forced. O, heal for this woman what has been broken, as they are your creatures and under your care." Then she told the woman to stay as Allah is Able to do everything. The woman sat by the door with a heart aching from the hunger of her children. It was not more than an hour, when a group of people came to the door of sayyda Nafisa [AAH], got her permission to enter, and said to her:

"We have a very strange story. We are merchant people and we have been traveling safely on the sea for a period, thanks to Allah. When we were close to your shores, our boat got a hole, the water came flowing on and we almost got drowned. We tried all we could to plug this hole and stop the water flow, but we could not. So we asked Allah for help and entreated to him by you. Then we found a bird that throw to us some cloth with spin it. We plugged that spin in the hole and it was closed and so we were saved by the will of Allah with your blessing. Now we came to you with this five hundred Dirham of silver as a token of thanks to Allah for our safety."

At that time sayyda Nafisa [AAH] cried and said: "O my God, how Graceful and Kind You are with your servants!" Then she called on the woman and asked her: "How much do you sell your spin for?" The woman replied: "For twenty Dirham." Sayyda Nafisa [AAH] said: "So get the good tiding that Allah compensated you for each one Dirham, twenty five ones." Then she told her the story of the merchants and gave her their money. The took the money to her daughters and told them what Allah gave her that money with the blessings of sayyda Nafisa [AAH].

·      There was a man who married a non-Muslim woman and had a son from her. That son was captured in the land of the enemies. His mother kept asking about the captives waiting for him, but he never came back. The woman said to her husband: "I heard that there is a woman among us who is called Nafisa bent al-Hasan. Why do not you go to her and ask her to pray for our son, so that Allah may bring him back to us. If he would be saved, I will believe in her religion" The man went to sayyda Nafisa [AAH] and told her the story, and she prayed for him that Allah may return his son to his mother. When the night came, the mother heard knocking on the door and opened the door to find her son standing by it. She asked him how he came back. He said: "O mother, As I was standing in the land of captivity at that time – and he specified the time which was the time of the prayer of sayyda Nafisa [AAH] – during my service, when I felt a hand on my chains and I heard a voice saying: 'Release him as sayyda Nafisa bent al-Hasan has interceded for him'. I was released from my chains. Then I did not feel anything except when I was entering the doors of our city until I stopped at our door." His mother was so delighted and that charismata was spread between the people. They say that the people of seventy houses converted to Islam that night with her blessings. The mother also converted to Islam and became a servant to sayyda Nafisa [AAH].

At the beginning of the third century of Hijra, the year 208H, sayyda Nafisa [AAH] got sick and her sickness kept getting worse until it was Ramadan. They got her a doctor, and he told her to break her fasting, so she said: "How strange! I have been asking Allah for thirty years to die fasting. Do I break the fasting now?" Her soul went back to Allah, and she was buried in her well known Masjid in Egypt.

Sayyda Roqaiya [AAH]

Imam Fakhreddin said:

[And a father to Zain al-Abedin, and you have

the healing for the broken by Zainab and Roqaiya] 1/327

She is sayyda Roqaiya bent Imam Ali ibn Abi-Talib [AAT]. Her mother is Om-Habib, as-Sahba’ at-Taghlobiya, who was a slave from the war against the renegades. She was captured by sayyduna Khalid ibn al-Walid at “Ain at-Tamr”, bur Imam Ali bought her from him and married her. She gave birth to Roqaiya and Omar al-Akbar. In the book of “the important chapters” Omar and Roqaiya were twins, and he lived for 85 years. He also inherited half of Imam Ali’s inheritance because he also inherited all his whole brothers: Abdullah, Ja’far, and Othman who died with Imam al-Husainin al-Taff. Al-Laith ibn Sa’d and ad-Darqatny said that syyda Roqaiya is the daughter of syyda Fatima az-Zahra’ [AAH] daughter of the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH]. But Imam ash-Sha’rany said in “the Gifts”, 10th chapter: Al-Khawwas told me that Roqaiya is the daughter of Imam Ali [AHHF], and ahe is in the shrine near the Masjid of the House of the caliph; prince of believers, and she has a group of Ahl-al-Beit with her in there. End of his words. This Masjid is known now as the Masjid of Shagarat ad-Dur, which is to the right of the one going to sayyda Nafisa [AAH].

Some of the people of Sham (Syria) said that they have a shrine for sayyda Roqaiya bent Imam Ali [AAT] there, but she is known to be a young premature girl. However the majority of the historians and biography people said that Imam Ali [AHHF] had only one Roqaiya that is not from sayyda Fatima az-Zahra’ [AAH] the daughter of the Messenger of Allah. Anyway, What is totally confirmed is that sayyda Roqaiya is from Ahl-al-Bait. One of the things that prove that sayyda Roqaiya is from Ahl-al-Bait, that the Fatimians were so careful not to put a mark on any of the tombs except if they are so sure that it belongs to one of Ahl-al-Bait, and from the descendants of sayyda Fatima az-Zahra’ and Imam Ali ibn Abi-Talib. If we know that Egypt has as many as a thousand shrine known to be for Ahl-al-Bait, then we would consider that the concern of the Fatimians in only some of these shrines, including the one of sayyda Roqaiya, is a decisive evidence that she is in Egypt.

The dome of sayyda Roqaiya [AAH] was built to say: Here lies the honorable sayyda Roqaiya [AAH]. The writer of the book " the people of the house of the Prophet in Egypt" called that place "the little Baqiee of Egypt" because it contained a lot of the shrines of the people of the house of the Prophet [Ahl-al-Bait].

From the known miraculous acts of sayyda Roqaiya [AAH] is what was narrated by al-Aghoury: That sayyda Roqaiya [AAH], when she was coming from Medina, She was intercepted by someone from the people of Yazid. He wanted to kill her, but his hand stopped in the air and he dropped dead.

One of the righteous people said:

[We refuge to the pure Om Kalthoum     also to the court of my lady Roqaiya]

[We entreat to the Lord of the creation              by the pure Hashimian guiders]

[The offspring of the best one who rode the camel rides]

Sayydi Ali Zain al-Abedin [AAH]

Imam Fakhreddin [AAH] said:

[We witnessed the miracle of concealment, in the open

Ali, and he is an ornament for the worshipers] 52/3

In the memory of the best successor for the best ancestors, the memory of Imam Ali Zain al-Abedin ibn Mawlana Imam al-Husain [AAT] the grandson of the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH], we find that words are unable to describe them. And how can they be described when Gabriel was a servant to their father, as they are the family and the people of house of the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH]. Imam ash- Shafe’y [AAT], the founder of the famous doctrine, one of the flags of the Islamic Fiqh [jurisprudence], and on whose hand many countries learn his Fiqh doctrine, talked about the people of house of the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH] in his famous divan [collection of poems]. He [AAT] said:

[O, people of house of the Messenger of Allah, your love

is a duty bestowed by Allah and revealed in Qur’an]

[It is enough great pride for you that whoever

Does not pray for you, his prayer would not be accepted]

So we see that Imam ash- Shafe’y [AAT] not only embraced the love of the people of house of the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH] and encouraged all people to love them, but he also said that this love is a duty. Duty in the doctrine of Imam ash- Shafe’y [AAT], as defined in “the Terms of the Islamic Fiqh”, is described as: What you get rewarded if you do it and get punished if you do not. He did only say that the duty is to love the family of the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH], but he also said that it is also to love his kinship [his relatives and those who are added to them]. Everyone of the people of the house of the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH], in the doctrine of Imam ash-Shafe’y [AAT], is to be loved as a duty.

One of these people whom we have to love, is Imam Ali Zain al-Abedin [AAH]. It was said about him that he was very hard worshiper, and that is why he is called Zain al-Abedin, which means: the ornament for the worshipers. In the book of “the Collector of the Sources” by az-Zahry, he said: I have never seen any Qurashian, the tribe of the Messenger [PPBUH] and the best tribe of the Arabs, better than Ali ibn al-Husain. In the book of “the History of Damascus” by Ibn Asaker, Ibn ash-Shihab said something like this saying.

Ibn Saad, in his book “the Levels”, narrated from Hisham ibn Orwa that he said: Ali ibn al-Husain [AAT] used to go on his camel from Medina to Maccah and back without beating it, not once. He used to sit with Aslam the servant of Omar [AAT], so on man of Quraish said to him: You left all Quraish and sat to this slave of bany Adeyy? Ali [AAH] said: A man sits where he gets benefit.

So he [AAH] was showing us with these words the benefit of the knowledge and sitting with the knowledgeable people. As there is no sitting better than sitting with the knowledgeable people, because with knowledge people get out of the darkness of ignorance to the lights. Knowledge completes the religion, which starts with the love of the people of the house of the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH], it is also the path of those who want to walk to Allah and get to know Him. This path ends with the knowledge of Allah which is the result of that love to the people of the house of the Messenger of Allah [PPBUH]. Imam Fakhreddin [AAH] said:

[And knowledge dresses the servant the best of dresses

and love cures all kinds of sickness] 15/25

May Allah give us the love of the people of the house of the Messenger and the love of their grandfather sayydi Ali Zain al-Abedin. Amen.
